Newcastle go clear after perfect start
18/05/2012 by Billy Pundit.
Newcastle’s 5-0 hammering of Bolton Town has given the Geordies a three-point lead at the top of the Premier League table but their perfect start to the season will be severely tested by their next two fixtures, away trips to Manchester and Birmingham Albion.
Leicester Forest are the early front runners in League 1. A 1-0 away win at Southampton United gives them maximum points and a two-point lead at the top of the table.
Belfast Rangers had a comfortable 3-0 victory at home to St.Patrick’s Albion, a third straight win giving them a two-point lead in the Gaelic Premier League where the two Glasgow clubs now occupy the bottom two places in the table.

Stoke United are the early Premier League leaders after a 3-0 win at Bolton Town gave them a maximum six points from the opening two fixtures. Liverpool City are level on points at the top following a 2-0 home victory over Fallowfield. Newcastle are the only other side in the top flight with maximum points thanks to a 1-0 win at Wolverhampton.
The Gaelic Premier League table has a very unfamiliar look to it after two games. Following a 1-0 victory at Glasgow Rovers, Belfast Rangers are the early leaders along with East Kilbride, 2-1 winners at home to Glasgow Wanderers and newly-promoted Dunfermline United who followed their opening day victory over Wanderers with a 2-1 win at home to Aberdeen Athletic. The two Glasgow sides have only a single point between them after the opening two matches.

Opening day defeat for champions Manchester
08/05/2012 by Billy Pundit.
Season 48 is underway and reigning Premier League champions, Manchester got off to a bad start, suffering a 2-0 reverse at Nottingham United. Newly-promoted Blackpool United’s first Premier League campaign started with a 2-1 home defeat to Liverpool City while Bolton Town began theirs with a 1-0 defeat at Liverpool United. The third promoted club and play-off winners, Sheffield Wanderers, opened with a creditable 0-0 draw away to Fallowfield.
The biggest opening day shock result came in the Gaelic Premier League where newly-promoted Dunfermline United enjoyed a 2-0 victory at Glasgow giants, Wanderers.

My Season 48 predictions
28/04/2012 by Billy Pundit.
I think we’ll be in for another tight Premier League title race this season but Manchester always seem to come good at the right moment and I expect them to be there again this time. Highbury, Birmingham Albion, Thames Valley and Newcastle will not be far away but I expect a much stronger challenge from Liverpool United this season. If I were to choose another side to possibly finish in the top six I would go for Sunderland City.
My tips for the other leagues are;
Key - 1. Title winners 2. Challengers 3. Strugglers
League 1 - 1.Leeds Rovers 2.Hackney 3.Portsmouth United
League 2 - 1.Bristol Wanderers 2.Tooting 3.Lewisham
League 3 - 1.York County 2.Northampton United 3.Durham County
Gaelic Premier - 1.Wanderers 2.Aberdeen Athletic 3.East Kilbride
Gaelic B - 1.Ayr Thistle 2.County Cork 3.Stirling United

England right-back Ellery Loftus and striker Earl Jenkins have joined Birmingham Albion from Liverpool United and Fallowfield respectively and fellow English international winger Gary Saunders has made the short trip from Highbury to Thames Valley. Liverpool United have a new strike force with the signings of Michael McCrossan from St.Patrick’s Albion and Ian Giggs from Birmingham Albion.

Chivers to stay at Highbury, Taylor gets chop from Fallowfield.
25/03/2012 by Billy Pundit.
Despite much speculation Steve Chivers has kept his job as Highbury manager but will surely have to improve on the clubs last two seasons acheivements. Fallowfield’s Joe Taylor is the highest profile manager to be sacked and he has been appointed as manager at League 1 side Sheffield City. The new Fallowfield boss will be Preston Town’s Steve Stainrod, the former Manchester and England goalkeeper.
See the full round-up of managerial changes following the end of Season 47. Player transfers will be up next.

Second Cup Final victory for Newcastle
02/03/2012 by Billy Pundit.
In a repeat of the League Cup Final, Newcastle again triumphed over Birmingham Albion, this time 1-0 with an 11th minute goal from Eamonn O’Hara leaving Albion as runners-up in all three major competitions this season. The promotion play-off Finals were all decided in normal time. Sheffield Wanderers won the League 1 play-off Final beating Southampton United by a single Danny Given goal on 75 minutes, earning Wanderers an immediate return to the Premier League. In League 2 Portsmouth United may have only finished in sixth place but they had a resounding 3-0 play-off Final victory over Lincoln Albion to win a return to the second tier of the Fictional Football League for the first time in ten seasons. Despite going behind to an early Northampton United goal, Newport Town came back to win the League 3 play-off Final 3-1. After spending the past four seasons in the Conference, Basildon will return to the League after a 1-0 play-off Final victory over Stockport Rangers thanks to a second-half goal from prolific young striker Carlton Kennedy.
